In 20 Years, We Will Need a Second Earth
From the Article:
If humanity continues sucking up resources at its current rate, we will need a second planet to meet our material needs by 2030 and the equivalent of 2.8 planets by 2050. That's the conclusion of the World Wildlife Fund's biennial "Living Planet Report"...
My Comment:
Wow, and I didn't think Earth 2.0 did all that well when it was on TV. I'm going to pull this link back out in 20 years and laugh. What idiocy.

Software Predicts Criminal Behavior - ABC News
New crime prediction software being rolled out in the nation's capital should reduce not only the murder rate, but the rate of many other crimes as well.
A computer program is helping law enforcement determine who is most likely to commit crime.(Photodisc/Getty Images)Developed by Richard Berk, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania, the software is already used in Baltimore and Philadelphia to predict which individuals on probation or parole are most likely to murder and to be murdered.
In his latest version, the one being implemented in D.C., Berk goes even further, identifying the individuals most likely to commit crimes other than murder.
More From Discovery NewsFrom ABC NewsIf the software proves successful, it could influence sentencing recommendations and bail amounts.
"When a person goes on probation or parole they are supervised by an officer. The question that officer has to answer is 'what level of supervision do you provide?'" said Berk.
Minority Report anyone? It's here... Oh, wait a minute, wanna bet some parole officers' union puts the kibosh on this? Fear the machines, people. Fear the machines.

REWORK: The new business book from 37signals.
Looks like a "must read"--better find a suitable dust jacket hide it.
